You probably already know this already if you've read this topic: https://retroachievements.org/viewtopic.php?t=29231
However, I want to make a note for those who are looking to start their own achievement (cheevo for short) hunting journey but never really paid much attention to the website. Certain emulators that have this feature are about to be depreciated and will no longer unlock hardcore achievements if the emulator has a newer version out and all unlocked cheevos will be softcore only. Be sure to go to retroachievents.org's download page to make sure you got the latest up to date emulators.
After more than a year and a half, a new version of Bizhawk has been released. New systems playable are Amiga, Channel F, and 3DS. RetroAchievements support was introduced in the previous version, now you will need to download this version and start earning them in hardcore mode by April 2025 or else the previous version will only unlock softcore achievements.
Download it here at: https://tasvideos.org/BizHawk/ReleaseHistory#Bizhawk210 and see the changes that have been made beside the new cores.

Greetings, mortals. I am proud to announce the official inaugural Twitch event, JANKUARY! This is a brand new Retro Twitch community event where a bunch of streamers will play the jankiest, worst-designed, awkwardest, most unplayably bad video games they can find across a variety of genres, platforms, and systems for an entire week. This event is not for charity, it does not serve any sort of purpose, nor does it seek to accomplish any goals. It runs Saturday January 18th through Saturday January 26th.
See Jankuary.com for sign-up and details. Spread the word! Tell your friends! Tell your enemies! Together, let's make this the jankiest event this side of the interwebs.
ScummVM 2.9.0 was released (2024-12-21)
- Download
"ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical adventure and role-playing games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed! ScummVM is a complete rewrite of these games' executables and is not an emulator."
